List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.
Elements describe the essential outcomes. | Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the range of conditions. |
1. | Prepare for loadshifting activities. | 1.1. | Activity schedule is reviewed to identify work requirements, and clarified with relevant personnel. |
| 1.2. | Hazards and risks are identified and managed according to organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 1.3. | Loadshifting equipment and associated attachments are selected and obtained according to work requirements. |
| 1.4. | Personal protective equipment (PPE) is selected, checked and used according to organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 1.5. | Barriers and warning signs are erected at loading and unloading sites to ensure safety of surrounding personnel according to organisational requirements and compliance requirements. |
2. | Operate loadshifting equipment. | 2.1. | Visual checks of equipment and associated attachments are conducted, and identified problems are resolved or reported according to organisational requirements. |
| 2.2. | Pre-start, start-up, park and shutdown procedures are conducted according to manufacturer instructions and compliance requirements. |
| 2.3. | Equipment is operated and driven in a safe and efficient manner, and operating techniques are modified to meet changing work conditions according to compliance requirements. |
| 2.4. | Work environment is continuously monitored to identify hazards and risks, and ensure safety of self, personnel, plant and equipment according to organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 2.5. | Communication with site personnel is maintained before and during equipment operation according to organisational and compliance requirements. |
3. | Load, move and unload waste. | 3.1. | Load weight is checked to ensure it is within safe operational limits and capacity of equipment according to manufacturer specifications and compliance requirements. |
| 3.2. | Waste is loaded using an approved loading method according to organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 3.3. | Attachments are fitted and used as required, to ensure load safety according to manufacturer specifications, organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 3.4. | Where waste is vacuumed, liquid flow is regulated to ensure constant hose pressure is maintained. |
| 3.5. | Waste is moved safely and securely according to work, organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 3.6. | Waste is unloaded safely and efficiently to maintain integrity of containment according to work, organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 3.7. | Load is stacked or housed at destination according to work, organisational and compliance requirements. |
4. | Shut down and secure loadshifting equipment. | 4.1. | Loadshifting equipment is parked in a safe location to avoid damage to equipment or obstruction of surrounding site activity according to organisational and compliance requirements. |
| 4.2. | Shut-down procedures are completed and equipment is secured according to manufacturer specifications and organisational requirements. |
5. | Carry out basic housekeeping and equipment maintenance. | 5.1. | Equipment and attachments are cleaned to remove debris and contamination according to organisational requirements. |
| 5.2. | Service checks are conducted according to manufacturer specifications and identified equipment faults are reported to relevant personnel. |
| 5.3. | Record of moving activities is completed according to organisational requirements. |
A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.
The person must also move waste using loadshifting equipment on two separate occasions.
While moving waste, the person must:
follow manufacturer specifications and comply with regulatory and legal requirements to:
clean and maintain equipment and attachment including conducting service checks, as specified in the range of conditions
conduct pre-operational visual checks of the loadshifting equipment to confirm correct function and operation
conduct pre-start, start-up, park and shutdown procedures
load, move and unload waste within safe operational limits and capacity of equipment
operate and drive equipment in a safe and efficient manner, and modifying operating techniques to meet changing work conditions
select and fit attachments required to secure loads
continuously monitor the work environment to identify hazards and risks and ensure safety of people, plant and equipment
load and unload waste using loading methods, as specified in the range of conditions
stack or house loads in designated areas
follow organisational procedures relating to loadshifting equipment.
A person demonstrating competency in this unit must demonstrate knowledge of:
equipment and attachments which may be required to load, move and unload waste
hazards and risks associated with moving waste using loadshifting equipment
licencing requirements relating to loadshifting equipment
organisational policies and procedures and regulatory and legal requirements relating to using load shifting equipment
types, streams and characteristics of waste including hazardous and dangerous waste
waste disposal and recovery routes
waste non-conformances and contaminants.
The following must be present and available to learners during assessment activities:
equipment:
loadshifting equipment and attachments, as specified by organisational requirements
personal protective equipment (PPE), as specified by organisational requirements
relationships with team members and supervisor:
working under limited supervision.
Timeframe:
as specified by organisational requirements.
Assessor requirements
As a minimum, assessors must satisfy the assessor requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) current at the time of assessment.
